Chapter 13: Oral Secrets, #7

7th Saying: I am not a meat rack,
Why do you hang on my body?

According to taijiquan (theory),
we seek to specialize in song and ling.
And above all, avoid being stiff and stagnant like a board.

That’s like meat hanging over a meat rack,
it’s just dead meat.
In that case, how can we speak of ling qi?

Must realize this outright causes pain and evil.
Thus we have these words of scolding and cursing: no meat rack!

This is also a mnemonic (formula) in the family transmission

Use (your) yi to deeply engrave (profoundly study)
Fortunate (lucky) to closely observe this.

----------------------------------

Notes:

  • 松靈 song ling:  relaxed, agile/lively
  •  靈氣 ling qi : lively qi. lingqi  in Japanese is reiki ...
  •  口訣 koujue: mnemonic or formula. "Mouth tactic" or "oral trick of the trade"
  • 細觀 xi guan : closely observe. xi  is thin/fine/detailed (one of the breath words) . guan is observe, watch, or concept.
